ute comparison australia 2023 Page 9

Australia’s 2023 ute scene is a buffet of grunt and gadgets—bring a plate and a tape measure. Here’s a quick, no-nonsense comparison of the usual suspects.

• Ford Ranger: Pros—strong torque and towing (up to 3,500 kg), comfy cabin and tech; Cons—pricier specs and running costs can sting.
• Toyota HiLux: Pros—bulletproof reputation, huge dealer network, top resale; Cons—jiggly ride unladen, infotainment in lower trims feels old-hat.
• Isuzu D‑MAX: Pros—frugal 3.0‑litre diesel, generous safety kit, solid warranty; Cons—workmanlike cabin, steering feel is more “ute” than “sports tourer”.
• Mitsubishi Triton (pre-2024): Pros—sharply priced, Super Select 4WD, easy ownership; Cons—smaller tray and lower towing than class leaders.

No trophies here—choose based on your payload, towing, and backside tolerance for rough roads. If you’d like to tyre-kick from the couch, browse listings on Tradingpost for what’s actually available near you.
