The VIN alone usually won’t give you the exact month of manufacture—at best, the 10th character hints at the model year, which isn’t the same as build date. In Australia, the precise build month/year lives on the build or compliance plate (and for newer imports, in the government’s RAV record). Use the VIN to run a PPSR/NEVDIS check, which often returns year of manufacture and the compliance date; then match that with the plate on the car. For belt-and-braces accuracy, ask a dealer or manufacturer to confirm the build date from their systems. Online VIN decoders are handy, but they typically show model year, not the actual month the car was screwed together. Close enough for pub trivia; not for paperwork.
