In Victoria, the much-debated EV road user charge (the ZLEV per‑kilometre levy) was struck down by the High Court in October 2023, so it isn’t being charged anymore.

If you paid it between 2021 and 2023, the state has committed to refunding drivers; keep your odometer records handy and watch for instructions from VicRoads or the State Revenue Office.

You’ll still pay the usual rego and compulsory insurance, but there’s currently no separate per‑km EV tax in VIC.
