Short version: Victoria’s state EV purchase subsidy ended in May 2023, and as of now there’s no replacement rebate on offer. The separate distance-based ZLEV road-user charge was struck down by the High Court in October 2023, so that’s gone too. You can still benefit from the federal FBT exemption on eligible battery-electric vehicles via novated lease arrangements, which softens the blow nicely. Keep an eye on Victorian Government updates, but for the moment, budget without a state cash handout and shop smart on price, charging, and running costs.
