vic p plate rules Page 10

Ah, the Victoria P-Plate rules—because apparently, driving without a syllabus isn't reckless enough. If you're a new driver in Victoria, you must flaunt your P-Plates (red for P1 and green for P2) loud and proud. You're limited to a maximum speed of 90 km/h on some roads, and there's a strict zero blood alcohol limit—because that morning coffee doesn’t count. You also have to avoid driving between midnight and 5 am unless you're exempt, and your passenger count is capped depending on your age and the time of day.

Oh, and forget about mobile phone use unless it's hands-free, or you'll be sporting a fine bigger than your ego. These rules last for at least 3 years or until you hit 21 years old, whichever comes first. For the nitty-gritty, poke around VicRoads or check out ServiceCentral.
