Moving interstate with a Vic licence? Despite the name, your VicRoads licence doesn’t “transfer” — you swap it for a local licence in your new state.
Do it soon after you arrive (typically within 3 months), bringing proof of identity, proof of your new address, and your current VIC card; you’ll usually surrender the Victorian licence on the spot and pay a fee.
No tests for full licence holders in most cases, but P-platers and overseas conversions can have extra hoops, and your conditions update to the new state’s scheme.
Vehicle rego is a separate kettle of fish, so sort that with the new state authority too. When in doubt, contact the state agency you’re moving to — they’re the ones who actually do the swap.
