Bringing an overseas licence to Victoria? If you’re a visitor, you can generally drive on your current overseas licence (carry an English translation or IDP if it’s not in English).
If you become a Victorian resident, you’ll need to convert it within about 6 months by creating a myVicRoads account, proving identity and Victorian address, and booking the required tests.
Depending on the country that issued your licence and your driving history, you may be exempt from some tests; otherwise expect a knowledge test, hazard perception test, and possibly a drive test.
Bring your original licence, a NAATI translation or IDP if needed, plus proof of age and address, pay the fees, and you’re off like a shot—legally this time. For the latest details and recognised country list, check VicRoads before you line up.
