Driving in Victoria on an international licence? No worries—if your overseas licence is in English, carry it and some photo ID; if it isn’t, bring an International Driving Permit or an official translation.
If you’re just visiting, you can drive on that licence while you’re here (and you must be at least 18 in Victoria, even if your home country says otherwise). Once you take up residence or get a permanent visa, you’ll need to convert to a Victorian licence within about six months.
Stick to the conditions on your overseas licence, keep it valid, and don’t drive if you’re suspended or disqualified anywhere—it follows you. When in doubt, check VicRoads before you hit the Western Ring Road and discover “learning by signage” isn’t a sport.
