victoria mobile speed cameras Page 315

Victoria’s mobile speed cameras are unassuming utes and wagons with lenses that don’t blink, quietly clocking your km/h while you argue with the GPS. They’re deployed statewide, shift spots frequently, and don’t need big neon signs to do their job; if there’s a posted limit, that’s the number that matters. The tech is radar or lidar paired with high‑res cameras, snapping plates day and night—no Hollywood flash, just infra‑red subtlety. Expect fines and demerit points if you’re over, with higher penalties the faster you stray; disputing it requires evidence, not vibes. If you want predictability, stick to the limit, check your speedo against a GPS, and leave the “just coasting downhill” defence in the glovebox. Locations rotate and aren’t broadcast in real time; official sites list fixed cameras, but mobile operations are purposefully less predictable.
