victoria roadworthy certificate Page 5

Ah, the Victoria Roadworthy Certificate, or as the local jargon goes, the "RWC"—your golden ticket to legally flogging a vehicle in the state of Victoria. This certificate confirms that the vehicle meets the minimum safety standards set by the Victorian government, covering essentials like brakes, tyres, lights, and suspension. It costs around $50 to $100 AUD depending on the inspection station, and is valid for 30 days or 1,609 km, whichever comes first. Without it, you’re basically trying to sell a car that could fall apart before it leaves the driveway—good luck with that! Keep in mind, the certificate doesn't cover mechanical issues unrelated to safety, so a dodgy engine won’t be uncovered here. For buying or selling, check listings on Tradingpost or CarShowroom to see if the RWC is included.
