victorian car seat rules

Ah, Victorian car seat rules—because apparently, your kid's safety depends on a bureaucrat's whims. Here's the lowdown:

• Children under 6 months must be in a rear-facing car seat.
• From 6 months to under 4 years, either rear or forward-facing seats are acceptable.
• Kids aged 4 to under 7 years must use a forward-facing car seat or booster seat.
• From 7 years until they’re big enough to use a seatbelt properly (usually around 145cm tall), a booster seat is mandatory.

Non-compliance could land you a fine and demerit points, not to mention the morality of keeping your tiny humans alive. For the nitty-gritty, check the official VicRoads website or ServiceCentral for updates.
