western australia car modification laws Page 119

Ah, Western Australia's car mod laws—where your dreams of a turbocharged, neon-lit beast meet reality. The state is pretty strict; any modification must comply with the Australian Design Rules (ADR) and the Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14 (VSB14) for light vehicles. This means no dodgy engine swaps without approval, and your suspension, lights, and even exhaust mods must pass muster to keep you legal and off the naughty list.

Common pitfalls include:

• Illegal tinting beyond allowable limits
• Non-compliant exhaust noise levels
• Unauthorized engine or chassis modifications
• Incorrect or unsafe lighting alterations

For those brave enough, getting mods approved often involves inspections and paperwork, so keep your receipts and be ready to prove your ride's roadworthiness. For more nitty-gritty or second-hand modded cars, browse Tradingpost or CarShowroom to see what's out there without getting a ticket.
