what are common problems with holden cruze? Page 4

The Holden Cruze can be a decent commuter, but it’s not shy about the occasional tantrum.

Here are the common gremlins owners and mechanics see most:

• Cooling system leaks (water pump/thermostat housing), leading to overheating if ignored.
• 1.4T PCV/intake manifold failure causing rough idle, whistling, and oil consumption.
• 6-speed auto (6T30/6T40) shudder/harsh shifts from fluid breakdown or valve-body issues.
• Diesel models: DPF clogging and EGR/intake soot build-up on short trips.

Also watch for turbo oil feed leaks, coil packs, and tired engine mounts; a pre-purchase inspection and full service history are your best friends.

Take a long test drive from cold, scan for codes, and check recall work; a well-kept Cruze can be fine, but a neglected one will eat your wallet for breakfast.
