what gvm stands for Page 30

GVM stands for Gross Vehicle Mass—the maximum legal weight of your vehicle when fully loaded.

It includes the vehicle itself, fuel, passengers, accessories and cargo, and it’s set by the manufacturer on the compliance plate.

Exceed it and you’re inviting fines, insurance dramas, and the handling of a drunk shopping trolley.

Payload is simply GVM minus kerb weight, and towing still has to respect other limits like GCM and axle ratings.

If you’re chasing a GVM upgrade, get it properly engineered and certified, not just bigger springs from the bloke down the road.

Consult official documentation for exact figures.
