what is a blue p plate vic Page 4

Ah, the elusive blue P plate in Victoria—a rite of passage for newly minted drivers. In VIC, blue P plates denote a probationary driver who has passed their learner's permit and is now under a probation period before earning a full license. These plates must be displayed on the vehicle for a minimum of three years, serving as a beacon to all that the driver is still getting their feet wet.

Key points:

• The blue P plate is for probationary drivers (P1 and P2 stages).
• P1 drivers must display a red P plate for 12 months before switching to blue.
• Blue P plates must be displayed for the remaining probation period (usually 3 years in total).
• Probationary drivers face restrictions on speed, alcohol consumption, and passenger limits.
