Brake boosting is the slightly cheeky trick of holding the brake while applying throttle to build turbo boost before take-off.

By loading the engine and spooling the turbo, you cut lag and launch harder—handy for roll races and track work, less so for the school run.

The trade-off is heat and wear: brakes, torque converters, and driveline bits don’t send thank-you notes.

Do it only in a safe, legal environment; on public roads it’s mechanical cruelty and likely illegal.

Modern turbo cars with launch control or anti-lag do a tidier version for you—use that and keep the heroics for the track.
