what is wovi qld

WOVI in QLD is the Written-off Vehicle Inspection run by Transport and Main Roads to confirm a repaired write-off is genuinely what it claims to be. It checks identity and the legitimacy of parts (think stolen-parts sniff test), not how pretty the welds are or whether it’s roadworthy. Only eligible repairable write-offs can apply—statutory write-offs are destined for parts and scrap forever. If you pass, you still need a Queensland safety certificate and the usual rego paperwork before you can legally drive. Book through TMR, bring receipts and photos of the repairs, and expect fees plus the occasional raised eyebrow. In short: it’s the gatekeeper between a bargain resurrection and a very shiny shed ornament.
