In Australia, “N70 Hilux” is the colloquial tag for the seventh-generation Hilux sold roughly from 2005 to 2015.
It spans the original launch and the 2011 facelift (new nose, updated interior and safety tweaks), before the N80 arrived in late 2015.
Typical engines included the 3.0-litre 1KD-FTV turbo-diesel, the 4.0-litre 1GR-FE V6 petrol, and a 2.7-litre four-cylinder in workhorse trims.
If you’re shopping used, check the build plate and compliance dates—Toyota doesn’t stamp “N70” on the tailgate, sadly.
