when did p plates start in qld Page 40

Queensland introduced P-plates for provisional drivers back in the early 1990s, aiming to curb the alarming rates of young driver accidents. The system has evolved since, but the essence remains: a probationary period where drivers prove they can handle the roads without turning every trip into a demolition derby. These days, P-plates come in two flavours: red P-plates for the first year and green P-plates for the second, each with its own set of restrictions and rules. It's a rite of passage that all young Queensland drivers must endure before earning their full licence.
