In NSW, a “pink slip” is the eSafety inspection you need when renewing rego on a light vehicle that’s more than five years old.
You get it annually, just before your registration expires, and the result is lodged electronically—no paper flapping about on the dash.
Under five years old? No pink slip; but unregistered or interstate newcomers need a Blue Slip instead.
Book with an Authorised Inspection Station, fix anything they tut at, and you’re back on the road legally.
Heavy vehicles and some special uses have different rules, and outside NSW the game changes entirely—so check your local guidance.
