Change tyres before they turn into legal-weasels: Australia’s minimum is 1.5 mm of tread, but swap them around 3 mm if you like stopping in the wet.
Cracks, bulges, cords showing, or punctures near the sidewall? That’s an immediate goodbye, no arguments.
Age matters too — after about 6 years they harden like old Anzacs; 10 years is the absolute bin-it deadline, regardless of tread.
If wear is uneven or they roar and vibrate like a didgeridoo at 100 km/h, get an alignment and replace as a pair (or all four) to keep handling tidy.
