The Tesla Model 3 was unveiled on 31 March 2016, the night half the planet queued online to put down a deposit and feel very futuristic about it.

US production kicked off in mid-2017 with first deliveries in July 2017, amid the usual “production hell” drama.

In Australia, orders opened mid-2019 and first customer deliveries began from August 2019, finally giving the school drop-off a silent assassin.

A major refresh (nicknamed “Highland”) arrived in late 2023, with Aussie deliveries commencing in early 2024.

So: reveal in 2016, first deliveries 2017 (US), and Australia from 2019, with the 2024 refresh now common on our roads.
