Australia uses the Type I plug, the one with two flat pins in an inverted V and a straight earth pin lurking underneath. It’s the standard under AS/NZS 3112, which sounds dull until you fry a charger.
Mains supply is 230 V at 50 Hz, and many outlets have little switches because we like to feel in control. Older two‑pin versions exist without the earth, but the shape is the same clever origami.
Visiting? You’ll want a Type I travel adaptor; a bulky voltage converter usually isn’t needed if your gear says 100–240 V—always check the label unless you enjoy smoke signals.
New Zealand uses the same plug, while China uses a similar Type I variant—close enough with the right adaptor, not close enough for bodgy improvisation.
