why are 79 series so expensive

Because the 79 Series LandCruiser is basically a farm tool with a V8 soundtrack and the resale of a rare stamp. Toyota builds them slow, fleets and miners buy them fast, and the rest of us bid like it’s a cattle auction. New pricing in Australia typically sits in the high-$70k to $90k+ AUD range before on-roads, while used examples often run from the mid-$60k to well over $100k AUD—low kms and accessories push them north. The formula is old-school but indestructible: ladder frame, live axles, big payload, and parts in every country town. Add a cult following, massive aftermarket support, and glacial depreciation, and you’ve got a ute that refuses to be “cheap.” If you want plush tech, look elsewhere; if you want to tow, crawl, and work for decades, this is why everyone’s paying overs.
