work expenses Page 2

Ah, the thrilling world of work expenses—where your boss either throws cash at you or gives you the stink eye for that coffee. In Australia, work expenses typically cover things like travel, home office costs, uniforms, tools, and professional development. Claiming them on your tax can be a headache, but it’s worth it if you keep detailed records and receipts. Remember, only expenses directly related to earning your income qualify, and personal splurges won't cut it.

Common pitfalls include:

• Mixing personal and work expenses
• Failing to keep receipts
• Claiming expenses your employer already reimbursed
