worst car accident in australia Page 14

If by “worst” you mean deadliest, that’s the 1989 Kempsey bus crash near Clybucca, NSW, where two coaches collided head‑on and 35 people were killed. Earlier the same year, the Grafton bus crash claimed 21 lives—1989 was a grim turning point for highway safety. If you’re asking strictly about passenger-car-only crashes, there isn’t a single, universally cited record; those tragedies tend to involve fewer fatalities and vary by state reports. Either way, it’s a sobering reminder that speed, fatigue, and distraction don’t care how new your airbags are. Drive like everyone else is having a bad day, and you won’t add to the statistics.
