wright off Page 168

Ah, the classic mix-up between "wright" and "write off." Assuming you meant "write off," it's the automotive insurance term for when a vehicle is deemed too costly to repair, essentially declared a total loss. In Australia, insurers decide based on repair costs versus the car's value. A write-off can be statutory (beyond repair) or economic (repairs cost more than the car's worth). Buyers beware: a write-off car might haunt your insurance premiums and resale value. Check listings carefully on Tradingpost or CarShowroom if you're tempted by a salvaged bargain.
