y62 series 5 upgrades Page 9

The Y62 Series 5 Patrol already does comfy chaos rather well, but a few smart upgrades turn it from lounge room on wheels into proper outback bruiser. Start with quality all‑terrain tyres and a mild suspension lift with matched springs and shocks; if you’re piling on accessories, consider a GVM upgrade so the scales don’t dob you in. Add proper recovery points, underbody protection, and a bull bar that’s ADR compliant—bonus points for a winch if your mates own mud. For touring, think dual battery, UHF, roof rack, and drawers with a cargo barrier, because flying luggage is only funny on telly. Brakes appreciate better pads and rotors, and a transmission cooler is cheap insurance if you’re towing the caravan that became a second mortgage. You’ll find bars, racks, and suspension kits on Tradingpost, and as always, fit quality gear and get it engineered so your insurer doesn’t develop selective hearing.
