Chasing the best car subwoofer in Australia? Start with 12-inch if you want proper thump, or a 10-inch for tighter bass that won’t steal all your boot space. Look for 300–600 W RMS and match the amp’s RMS to the sub—peak watts are marketing confetti. Sealed boxes give cleaner notes; ported boxes go louder; an active (powered) sub is the easy install. Brands like JL Audio, Alpine, Pioneer and Kicker are safe bets, while compact under-seat units suit utes and small hatches. Expect roughly $150–$700 AUD new or $80–$500 AUD used; Tradingpost often has tidy second-hand gear that’s already run-in. Tune the crossover around 80 Hz and set gain properly, or you’ll trade bass for buzz. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
