byd blade battery review Page 32

BYD’s Blade Battery uses LFP chemistry and those long, prismatic “blade” cells, favouring safety and longevity over headline-chasing energy density—sensible for Aussie heat.

Its cell-to-pack layout trims wasted space and improves cooling, and it famously shrugs off the nail-penetration test without going full fireworks display.

On the road it delivers consistent range, low degradation, and easy everyday charging, though peak DC speeds are modest next to racier NMC rivals.

Downsides? A smidge heavier per kWh and not the last word in punch, but the trade is stability, lower costs, and fewer thermal dramas.

If you want real-world reliability over spec-sheet bragging rights, the Blade feels quietly excellent.
