ford focus 2007 problems

The 2007 Ford Focus is generally a tidy steer, but it’s not entirely drama-free. Happily, it’s pre-dual-clutch, so the autos are conventional and mostly fine if serviced, while manuals can chew clutches if treated like a rally stage. Typical gremlins to check include:

• Worn front control arm and sway-bar bushes, plus rear suspension bush wear causing clunks and uneven tyre wear.
• Tired engine mounts leading to vibration at idle and thumps on take-off.
• Coolant leaks from plastic thermostat housing and aging hoses; occasionally radiator fan/resistor issues.
• Central locking actuators and door-latch quirks; window regulator failures aren’t rare.
• Ignition coil/lead/spark plug misfires on petrol; EGR/DPF hassles on diesels.
• Power steering pump or rack noise/leaks; alternator/charging niggles.

Buy on condition and service history, and budget for fresh bushes and fluids; sorted, it still handles like it’s had an extra Weet-Bix.
