After the sales disaster of the 999 model, Ducati returned to its decadent best with the exotic, reassuringly expensive 1098R. Built in limited numbers for WSBK, the 1098R formed the basis of their F08 factory racer that ever-green Troy Bayliss took to his third World Championship.

Owing to a tightening of WSBK rules, the road-going 1098R was considered the closed ever production bike to the factory racer. Aside from different pistons and a smattering of detail changes the 1099R is exactly the same as the bike Troy campaigned in 2008. The 1098R was, and still is today, an incredibly fast bike, thanks to that spectacular 1200cc Testastretta engine. The 1098R was also the first road-going production bike to be fitted with traction control.

The example being offered here is in absolute showroom condition with only a fraction over 1000 kilometre on the odometer.
