1988 Ducati 750 Sport

The Ducati 750 F1 was enormously successful for Ducati both on and off the track, but in road bike form sales were hindered by its relatively high price. Inspired by the glamour of the F1, the 1988 750 Sport was an interim model that Cagiva hoped would capture the spirit and style of the earlier 750SS & 750 Sport, and while the idea had merit, buyer sentiment showed it the back door in preference to a renewed version of the long-running 900SS.

The second 750 Sport as a model ran for only two years before buyers influenced introduction of the long-running 900SS of the early 1990’s. Production numbers are unclear but in it’s second year only 153 were produced making this possibly one of Ducti’s smallest produced models.

This example, located in Australia and currently on Historic Rego, has been maintained in perfect original condition and includes considerable historic maintenance documentation. This is beautiful time capsule of Ducati’s early foray into belt driven engines and presents as a very affordable collectible.
