2001 Bimota VDue NEW

In 1997 Bimota launched its Vdue 500, a two-stroke race replica that was promoted globally as being the closest thing to a road registered GP bike. Limited to an exclusive production run of only 300 bikes, the model was aimed squarely at the high-end enthusiast with a showroom ticket of 14,5k GBP.

Unfortunately the story of the VDue is well known; the technical difficulties which plagued the super hi-tech model also led to the first collapse of the tiny ‘David & Goliath’ company. In a bid to salvage the model, and the company, Bimota recalled the bikes and some were fitted with a revised carburation system that made the bikes ride-able, albeit still difficult given the true and somewhat small GP type power-band. The bike was really only suited to experienced riders who were capable and willing to tame a GP bike. Many of those that took-up the carby option still whined about the ride-ability, but those capable of handling a beast said they were truly exhilarating, as you will see in the attached videos.

Today a VDue is truly a collector’s piece, and this example is about as good as you will hope to find. A brand new, never fired Evoluzione Corsa. This is the model that was corrected by the factory and ran properly; it has received not only the carburettor change, but the additional carby modifications, to suit the factory race pipes, and the upgraded digital GP dash, all of which was carried out only to the Evoluzione Corse.

Presently sitting with its second owner in South Africa, the bike was first bought by the owner of BST Carbon Wheels, making this a genuine SA delivered version. The bike comes with original keys (still joined as they came from factory), Bimota cover, paddock stand, books, mirrors, import documentation and original invoice.
