nissan pathfinder 2014 problems Page 2

The 2014 Nissan Pathfinder (R52) has a few recurring gripes, most of them orbiting the CVT like seagulls around hot chips.

• CVT shudder/hesitation and overheating under load; many needed software updates and, in worse cases, transmission replacement.
• Premature front brake rotor warping leading to steering-wheel shake under braking.
• Tailgate/liftgate struts losing pressure, causing a weak or droopy lift.
• Infotainment and Bluetooth dropouts or freezes.
• Airbag-related recalls (Takata era) — always check the VIN for completed campaigns.

A careful test drive from cold, a long uphill run, and a kickdown check will expose most CVT nasties.

If you’re shopping used on Tradingpost, look for proof of transmission software updates and fresh brake hardware, and budget for a thorough pre‑purchase inspection.

Regular fluid changes and quality tyres also tame a lot of the day-to-day grumbles.
