The Wentworth sand dunes, better known as the Perry Sandhills, sit just outside Wentworth in far south-west NSW. Picture sweeping, rust-red waves of sand that look borrowed from Mars, parked conveniently near the Murray–Darling junction. It’s a favourite for sandboarding, sunset photos, and the odd film shoot when someone needs “Australian Outback, but photogenic.” Access is straightforward in dry weather, though soft patches can humble overconfident 2WDs. Pack water, a hat, and your sense of scale — the dunes supply the rest.
