James Dean died in a Porsche 550 Spyder, the featherweight racer he’d nicknamed “Little Bastard.” On 30 September 1955, driving to a race, he collided with a 1950 Ford Tudor near Cholame, California. He was at the wheel; his mechanic Rolf Wütherich was the passenger and survived, albeit badly injured. The Spyder wore the number 130 and, yes, it looked as menacing as it sounds.
