Ducati’s 916SPS was the evolution model, effectively introducing the new larger & more powerful 996 Desmoquattro engine. The 916SPS also included other major WSBK homologation updates to assist the factory’s continued dominance in the world championship. The large engine received new, stronger crankcases, 36mm inlet valves, new inlet and exhaust camshafts, a lighter chrome moly frame same previously exclusive to the Corsa, and also new Showa forks to accept the revised 60mm Brembo Goldline front brake callipers.
