In the late 60’s & early 70’s Laverda was a major player in motorcycle racing, particularly Endurance racing, a category that was hugely popular in Europe and attracted scant interest elsewhere, except possibly Japan. The Breganze factory’s aim was to conquer events like the Montjuic, Spa and Bol d’Or 24 Hour Races, as well as other long-distance events, so in 1971 the SFC (Syper Freni Competizione, or Super Brake Competition) was created.

Enormously successful, the SFC was a genuine all-out racer that was deemed too vicious for road use, although over time several have found their way to the road, including the one here for sale.

This spectacular SFC was raced in the 70″s and at one time left in to deteriorate for many years. Fortunately the person who discovered this ‘genuine ‘barn-find’ in 2015 commissioned a respected Laverda specialist to undertake a no-expense restoration, including engine & gearbox. Whilst sparingly ridden after completion, as the images suggest, the bike has taken pride-of-place in the owner’s living room.
