Forced to replace his beloved bevel engine due to tightening EU emissions, the brillt Fabio Tagioni came-up with the belt-driven desmo and introduced it to the world in the equally different Pantah 500SL. Engine wise, this much smaller concept would be the vanguard of the factory’s new generation, setting a direction that would lead to today’s 1299 Panigale.

Dr. T’s new design proved its worth in racing as the 600 cc TT2 and later TT1 750 cc racer, the Pantah was a lighter, shorter wheelbase motorcycle, that introduced the now famous trellis frame, a design feature that was to become a trademark for Ducati. First displayed in December 1979, the Pantah 500SL evolved into 600 and then in 1986 the final edition was the now highly sought-after 650SL.

This spectacular final year 650SL was first delivered new in Belgium by the official Ducati concessionaire. The bike has remained in Belgium since first purchase and in preparation for selling the current owner has undertaken a no-expense spared restoration. Located in Belgium the advertised price includes shipping & arrival charges.
